Artificial Intelligence (AI) is often depicted through a dystopian lens. Yet, AI and big data have empowered humans and machines to collaborate like never before, driving insights, detecting patterns and facilitating breakthroughs faster and at a larger scale. AI is therefore a proponent of the future, not an enemy of it.
Through human + AI collaboration, an infinite amount of untapped resources becomes instantly available. Which is why XPRIZE leverages AI as a powerful tool to accelerate groundbreaking solutions for humanity’s greatest challenges.
AI for Good is a cultural and technological commitment to shift the narrative around AI and provide proof points that AI is a tool of empowerment and a force for good.
AI to solve
"The time to talk about AI for Good is now - not a year from now or five years from now, but now. The ideas and discussions around AI for Good need to move from theoretical to concrete and practical. For instance, AI can help optimize malaria prevention and improve the treatment of diabetes, but it’s up to humans to tap into that technology.
That is precisely what the IBM Watson AI XPRIZE is focused on - providing concrete proof points of AI for Good in action. Through this work we hope to increase AI literacy and shorten the gap between technologists and problem solvers.” — Devin Krotman, Director, Prize Operations
AI for good
The AI for Good Global Summit is the leading United Nations (UN) platform for inclusive global dialogue on AI and is organized by the XPRIZE Foundation in partnership with the UN ITU and sister UN agencies.
By connecting international leaders, thinkers and programmers, the annual Summit seeks to identify practical applications of AI that will drastically improve and impact society on a global level through the accomplishment of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Specifically, this year’s Summit aims to create large-scale breakthroughs in the domains of Gender, Food and Pandemics through collaborative workshops and project designs.
The goal of Breakthrough Tracks is to generate and fuel meaningful projects in each of this year’s three AI for Good Global Summit domains - Gender, Food, and Pandemics - that will advance progress on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Interested individuals and teams from around the world are invited to submit project ideas to the Gender, Food and Pandemics Breakthrough Tracks. The top three finalists in each domain will be selected by the Brain Trust and will have the opportunity to present their projects at the AI for Good Global Summit virtual event in September.
Register to submit a project

Please fill out this form, and a member of our AI for Good team will follow up with next steps. Projects can be in the form of a research effort, a product, a documentary, a startup related effort, and more. If your project is selected, you will be matched with an expert mentor and will have the opportunity to showcase your idea at the AI for Good Global Summit taking place September 21-25, 2020.
The Gender Track is currently the only track receiving submissions with the Food and Pandemics Tracks opening soon. The deadline for submissions is August 1, 2020.
