Ryan Duffy

Ryan Duffy was recently named “Smartpreneur of the Year” at the Powering Prosperity Awards in Canada, an honour that recognizes exceptional entrepreneurial leadership and vision in the field of sustainable energy.

Ryan is the Founder and CEO of Blackstone Energy Services, an energy management company that delivers purposeful change for its clients by guiding large businesses, municipalities and hospitals on their journey to net-zero energy consumption.

Over the past 20 years, Ryan has formed a demonstrable track record of success buying and selling several start-up energy companies. Since 2003, he has grown Blackstone Energy tenfold and established it as an industry leader, managing over $3 billion in energy spend for a diverse range of companies across North America and the Caribbean from Blackstone’s headquarters in Toronto. 

Ryan has been highly active in the energy industry for over 20 years. Currently he dedicates his time to Ontario’s IESO Technology Standing Committee, the Energy Services Association of Canada and the Energy Committee for the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters Association.

Ryan is also a board member for SusGlobal Energy Corp. (SNRG), is a member of the Canadian Healthcare Engineering Society and the Royal Canadian Military Institute. Recently the EY Blockchain Energy Trading Working Group nominated Mr. Duffy to its Steering Committee as well as leading Blackstone to its second consecutive Canadian Business Excellence Award for Private Businesses (2018 and 2019).

Ryan has worked as a delegate for the Canadian Federal Government at the United Nations climate change conferences. Following this appointment, he joined the World Bank’s Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition and has been a member of the Abundance 360 group since 2016. He is also an Innovation Board Member for the XPRIZE Foundation, which awards global funding to help solve some of the world’s most challenging societal issues.

In addition to an active family life with his wife and three daughters, Ryan is the Chairman of The Concerned Kids anti-bullying charity in Toronto.
