Nancy Glass

Nancy Glass, PhD, MPH, RN. Professor and Associate Dean of Research, Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, Associate Director, Hopkins Centers for Global Health. Dr. Glass has 20 years of research experience in conducting clinical and community-based interventions with diverse populations across multiple settings domestically and globally, including humanitarian settings. She is the Principal investigator (PI) of three US federally funded (NIMHD, NICHD, OWH) and UNICEF funded multidisciplinary research studies to test social norms, safety, health and economic interventions to improve the health, economic stability and wellbeing of survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and their families. She is the PI of World Bank, UNWomen and UNICEF funded project to determine prevalence of GBV in the 3 regions of Somalia. She has also served as the co-investigator for several years on a Department of State, Bureau of Population, Refugee and Migration (BPRM) funded partnership to examine the feasibility and acceptability of a screening tool, ASIST-GBV, to identify survivors of GBV in health settings with displaced and refugee populations in Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda and Colombia. In addition, her research team is evaluating the effectiveness of livestock/animal microfinance interventions on economic, health and social outcomes with for families in post-conflict rural Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In all research collaborations, her team is using innovative mHealth technologies to collect confidential and secure data, reach diverse populations and provide tools and resources to health and social service providers. She has successfully led research and program evaluations while collaborating with community experts and organizations to improve health, safety, and economic stability for women, families and communities.
